Irish Tours Rome

It was an idea some five years ago, but for one reason or another, ‘Historical Drinking Tours’ never saw the light of day beyond a somewhat archaic landing page which resembled a custom coat of arms and spilled guinness. Let it be known that Rome is replete with tour guides and tour operator owners from the Emerald Isle. Flame haired and feisty drinkers, they have their say in the ways, whys, and wherefores of Rome tourism. Most are legal guides and / or licensed operators, while wanton others are illegal guides offering illegal tours by abusing the TripAdvisor service. They accept cash only and pay no tax. A few run websites which scream ‘Irish owned!’, but stop short of mentioning how they are official, licensed, and that they contribute to the city which serves them so very well. The fools who pay them for tours are only lining their pockets with beer money, while the ruins which they’ve just been guided through will continue to crumble and collapse into dust because the city of Rome has no money to pay for restorers and archaeologists. Why? Work it out. Said ingrates pay no tax and contribute less than nothing to Rome.

When in Rome, try to avoid handing cash to illegal tour ‘guides’. They invariably meet on street corners or in bars close to the Vatican Museums because they have no office. Play your part and support those who support Rome.

Shore Excursions Rome (cont…)

In addition to shore excursions Rome from the port of Civitavecchia, we operate a similar pick up service from Livorno (to Florence and elsewhere in Tuscany) and Naples as part of our Italy Shore Excursions.

Read the article below about our shore excursion rome options and offers, or visit the Rome Shore Excursions tab on our website.

Time is of the essence wherever day trips from a port – city and back again are concerned. It’s well worth considering the exact distances involved in order to minimize transfer time and see as much as possible en route, as well as at point to point destinations. While plenty of transfer time is required to move from the ports of Livorno and Civitavecchia to Florence and Rome, Venice is an exception as port and city are one and the same. In Sicily, both Palermo and Messina are proximal to areas of outstanding natural beauty. Segasta, Monreale, Cefalù and the Madonie mountains are all within an hour’s drive from Palermo, while Taormina and Castelmola are easily accessible from a Messina port transfer.

Rome port transfers from Civitavecchia to Rome and towns and countryside nearby, including Tivoli, Lake Bracciano, the Castelli Romani, Anzio, Nettuno and the Tyrrhenian coast.

Rome tours cruise ship transfer options include Sedan E-Class (2 pax), Viano (3-7 pax) or Minibus (8-16 pax). Always air conditioned Mercedes vehicles with all mod cons and leather interiors.

Our Shore excursions Italy service will soon include the ports of Messina and Palermo in Sicily. We’ll publish Italy shore excursions news items and related information on the usual Rome tourism portals in due course.

For Italy shore excursions, please visit When In Rome Tours – wherever your cruise ship docks on the peninsula, we’ll pick you up and show you the very best Italy has to offer. High quality shore excursions from Rome, Naples, Venice, Livorno, Palermo and Messina.
